Re-Elect Tasha Sims, DeKalb County Clerk & Recorder

Tasha Sims is running for re-election as DeKalb County Clerk & Recorder in 2026.

Since first taking office in 2022, Tasha has focused on modernizing the Clerk & Recorder’s Office, strengthening election operations, and improving access to public records and services. Under her leadership, the office launched a user-friendly, accessible website, implemented precinct realignment to simplify ballots, increased election judge pay, installed a 24/7 ballot drop box, and expanded outreach through social media and voter education.

Looking ahead to a second term, Tasha’s priorities include offering passport photo services to create a one-stop shop, launching online filings for Statements of Economic Interest, and exploring software that allows the public to submit marriage licenses and other vital records forms online. Her goal is to expand digital convenience while maintaining the high standard of in-person service her office is known for.

Some days are harder than others—but Tasha loves what she does, she loves who she does it with, and she loves who she does it for. She’s proud of the progress that’s been made, and she’s asking for your support to keep that momentum going.

Let’s keep building on what we’ve started—together!

I was born and raised here in DeKalb County and am proud to call this community home. I’m a graduate of Sycamore High School and Kishwaukee College, and today, my husband Joe and I are raising our four children in rural Kingston Township. My family is my foundation—and the reason I work so hard every day to serve the people of DeKalb County.

I’ve worked in county government for nearly two decades, starting under former County Clerk & Recorder Sharon Holmes. Over the years, I was cross-trained in every area of the Clerk & Recorder’s Office—Recording, Vital Records, Tax Extension, and Elections. I also spent 10 years serving in a dual role as Deputy Clerk and Executive Assistant to the County Administrator, and as Secretary to the County Board, the Forest Preserve District, and the Public Building Commission.

These experiences gave me a deep understanding of how county government works, both behind the scenes and on the front lines. I’ve spent hundreds of hours in County meetings, learning, listening, and preparing to lead.

In 2022, I was honored to be elected as your DeKalb County Clerk & Recorder. Since then, I’ve focused on expanding access to services, modernizing operations, and building a team that leads with professionalism and care.

Some days are harder than others—but I love what I do, I love who I do it with, and I love who I do it for. Public service has never been just a job to me—it’s my calling.
